Do You Remember Those Baseball Travel Dice Games?
I do.
They were quick, simple and strangely addictive. Roll the dice, check the result, move the runners and play nine innings almost anywhere.
But did you ever wonder whether you were actually playing?
Roll. Read the result. Roll again.
And somehow the final score was 32–28.
For a long time, I wanted to keep what made those games fun while giving the player decisions that actually mattered.
So At The Plate Baseball was born.
Now You Call the Shots
Every time your batter steps up, you choose the approach:
Contact. Normal. Power.
Sounds simple. The model underneath isn’t so forgiving.
Trying Power with a struggling hitter? Good luck. Maybe the baseball gods will smile on you — but don’t count on it.
Your batting order matters. The runners matter. The scoreboard matters. And sometimes you can make the right call and still make an out.
That’s baseball.
And the CPU Is Watching
Your opponent isn’t simply rolling dice either.
CPU managers have different playing styles, but they’ll react as the game unfolds. That mild-mannered Contact manager might suddenly choose Power when it’s late, runners are on base and the scoreboard is screaming desperate times.
Quick. Simple. Not So Easy to Win.
At The Plate Baseball keeps the part I loved about those old games: you can play nine innings in just a few minutes.
But this time, you’re making the calls.
